Torbotics 2080
For Hammond High’s Robotics team Torbotics, this journey began seventeen years ago. Nine students and one after-school club has since been expanded to a four year, International Baccalaureate and Louisiana State University-certified engineering pathway and seventy-two team members. Led by current mentor, Jean-Marie Williams, Torbotics has been committed to incorporating STEM into the culture here in Tangipahoa Parish for the past seventeen years.
Team Impact
Team 2080 possesses a long-standing history of developing quality STEM opportunities for youth and families throughout our region. This commitment is at the core of the Torbotics culture and is often the reason students first develop an interest in the team. Over the past 17 years, Torbotics has directly impacted more than 300,000 youth and have logged thousands of hours of community service and development.
FIRST Impact
Torbotics is committed to the development and support of additional FIRST robotics teams throughout our region in all four divisions. To date the team has created and/or actively supports 12 FLL Explore, 20 FLL Challenge, and 5 FTC teams. We are currently in the process of developing a collaborative STEM Equity grant that will result in the creation of 45 additional FIRST robotics teams in our parish.
Our History
Since its creation, our team has been committed to the transformational power of being student-organized, student-led and student-run.
